In an ideal world, everyone would boast a perfect, lifelong set of healthy teeth. Unfortunately, disease, accidents, and other factors can make this an impossibility. Dr. Williams utilizes the latest advancements in dental technology to restore your smile.
Below, you will find all of the equipment we have at our practice. By using the highest-quality technology available, we can get more accurate readings, provide you with a more painless procedure, and reduce recovery time.
CEREC (Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics) is a revolutionary system that allows Dr. Williams to design, create and fit a new crown in a single visit. While you sit comfortably, an image of your tooth is scanned into a computer specially designed for this purpose.
Using digital technology, your crown is designed to your tooth’s precise specifications. The multi-instrument CEREC system consists of an infrared digital camera, a computer with 3-D imaging software, and a milling unit with diamond blades for quick, precise, and highly detailed construction of restorations.
So what are the benefits of CEREC?
No messy impressions, no temporary dental crowns, no multiple appointments. In fact, the whole procedure will probably take no more than an hour and a half.
Dr. Williams was one of the first dentists in the country to utilize digital x-rays, which have changed the way that the doctor and his staff view your teeth.
As a patient, you get safer, better, faster, smarter service without the usual increase in price. It’s just another way that Dr. Williams has been able to go above and beyond in providing our patients the very best in dental care.
The Tekscan system is a reliable and easy-to-use clinical diagnostic device that senses and analyzes occlusal contact forces using paper-thin, disposable sensors. This aids Dr. Williams in the diagnostic process of analyzing a patient’s bite and showing what is and what is not functioning properly. When a bite is unstable it can cause pain, teeth and dental restorations to crack and break, gum disease, tooth loss, headaches, and even lead to TMJ Disorder.
More and more patients place value on healthy and attractive teeth. In order to maintain them, the earliest possible care is essential. CariVu Caries Detection is the revolutionary new way to find even the smallest areas of tooth decay. By using this new technology, Dr. Williams and his staff are able to target and treat all of your small problem areas before they turn into larger issues that require more complicated procedures.
The VELscope Vantage System is the only oral cancer screening system commercially available today. Dr. Williams and his hygienists use this tool to enhance the visualization of oral mucosal abnormalities that may not be apparent or visible to the naked eye, such as oral cancer, premalignant dysplasia, and other oral tissue abnormalities.
The VELscope Vantage System functions by facilitating the direct visualization of tissue fluorescence and the changes in fluorescence that occur when abnormalities are present. The VELscope Vantage System emits a safe blue light into the oral cavity, causing tissue fluorescence from the surface of the epithelium through to the basement membrane, where pre-malignant changes typically start, and in the stroma beneath. The special optical filtering in the handpiece allows the dentist to immediately view the different fluorescence signatures from the oral tissue to help differentiate between normal and abnormal tissue.
Remember: early discovery is key. When caught at an early stage, oral cancer has an 80-90% survival rate. But only 35% of cases are diagnosed early. The VELscope Vantage System can help with early detection. Ask Dr. Williams about a screening during your next appointment.
As it is nearly impossible to see inside your own mouth, intraoral cameras provide a previously unseen view. The pen-sized camera features a disposable cover to prevent contamination and is completely painless to use! As the camera moves around in your mouth, it sends video images to a computing unit where the images are enlarged and transmitted to a television screen.
With the images produced by the intraoral camera, patients can see each of their teeth and dentists can educate patients on problems such as broken teeth, defective crowns and fillings and even tooth decay.
Safety glasses will be used to protect your eyes from any harm. In many cases, the use of the laser instead of the drill or scalpel greatly reduces pain during the procedure. Depending on what you need and your pain tolerance, anesthesia is sometimes even unnecessary!
